Epirus, a defense technology company specializing in directed-energy systems, has successfully raised $250 million in a Series D funding round, bringing its total venture funding to over $550 million. This latest investment aims to accelerate the production of Epirus’ flagship product, Leonidas—a high-power microwave (HPM) system designed to counter unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and other electronic threats.
The funding round was co-led by 8VC and Washington Harbour Partners, with participation from General Dynamics Land Systems, signaling strong confidence in Epirus’ innovative approach to modern defense challenges. The Leonidas system has demonstrated effectiveness in neutralizing drone swarms and electronic devices, offering a scalable and energy-efficient solution for both military and commercial applications.
With the escalating use of drones in various sectors, the demand for robust counter-drone technologies has surged, positioning Epirus to meet this critical need. The company plans to utilize the new capital to scale production capabilities, enhance supply chain resilience, and expand into international and commercial markets. Additionally, Epirus intends to establish a new simulation center in Oklahoma to train military personnel in counter-drone operations, further solidifying its commitment to advancing defense technologies.
